I MOVED TO LOS ANGELES. Yes, leaving New York was tough but it was time for the next chapter of my life and I’m so excited.

ARTIST OF THE WEEK: Kazzey

My music tastes have deepened since my newsletter break and my finding out about Kazzey is evidence of that. I stumbled upon the French electro-funk artist while going down a Youtube rabbit hole and boy am I glad I found out about him. Every song is a freaking new experience I’m telling you. Every track feels like you’re in your favorite dance club and then suddenly get transported to the freaking future. This is the perfect music to listen to while at work as well as the hypnotic vibes just melt away all your tension. I’m serious, give it a try, please.

SONGS OF THE WEEK: Peezy - 2 Million Up

This honestly could double as the sample of the week. I’m a SUCKER for “Don’t Look Any Further”.

Peezy’s flow mixed with this heavenly beat just make for one of the most replayable songs of all time. No really. I hope this shows up on my Spotify Wrapped this year. Even those the song is longer than 2 minutes, It always feels way too short because you can honestly listen to Peezy on this beat for hours and hours.

Mariya Takeuchi - Plastic Love 竹内 まりや

I’ve changed a lot since you last read me. For example, I got big into CITY POP AND IT’S THE BEST THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO ME. I found out about this song through the 8-Bit version that I use for my Twitch Stream. From there I was able to branch out and find other artists. I want to buy the vinyl for this so badly, I’m looking for it as we read/speak/type.

Meet Me @ The Altar - Meet Me @ The Altar - May The Odds Be In Your Favor

It’s POP PUNK O’CLOCK. Meet Me @ The Altar is an epic trio that always brings an electric energy to every track. They’ve been KILLING it on Tiktok for years and they deserve all the attention, praise, and respect for just making absolute BANGERS ALL THE TIME.

Sample of the Week: Tomoko Aran - Midnight Pretenders 

This 1983 slice of perfection is one of my favorite new (you know what I mean. It’s new to me) songs I’ve heard over the last year and I’m so glad that this subsection of music has blessed me and the world with its presence. I truly feel unworthy of listening to it every time. It’s like Prometheus stole this from the gods and we weren’t supposed to listen to this classified file of audio euphoria. To make things even more fun for me this was sampled and put on one of my favorite albums of the year.

SAYYYYYYYY I LOVE YOU GIRL BUT I’M OUT OF TIME. I tried to sing this at karaoke and failed spectacularly in front of my friends who had no idea what I was attempting to sing. No regrets.

As someone who loves all versions of The Weeknd, this is one of my favorite albums of his. People always beg for the old Weeknd back blah blah blah. I’m more than happy with this.
