Infinite Shuffle #28: Lunch at 4 AM

Pickin' out my fro with my fist comb

Welcome back to another newsletter! I wrote this at 4 in the morning. I just wanted you to know the headspace that I’m in right now. I’m doing good though. My sleep schedule is all over the place, but that’s usually how I operate! Have a great week!

Artist of the week: Cascada

Yes. Cascada. The group (Yes it’s a GROUP, the lead singer’s name is Natalie. I tell this to people at parties) took the world by storm with the worldwide anthem “Everytime We Touch”. But what if I told you that they had multiple bangers. I’m not just talking about their later hit “Evacuate the Dancefloor” either.

Project of the week: Everytime we Touch

Everyone knows about the hit single, but the entire album is just as infectious. I’m convinced that if “Everytime we Touch” didn’t exist then another song on the project would take its place in history. From “Bad Boy” to “One More Night” to the “Kids In America” cover. The original cut is 42 minutes, but the premium edition adds THREE HOURS of additional remixes. Including 4 extra mixes of “Everytime We Touch”

WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT?!

Meet Me @ The Altar - May The Odds Be In Your Favor

Look. Get to know this pop-punk band. They are going to take the world by storm. The more you listen the more you’ll want to replay this and all their songs. I NEED AN ALBUM!

Tinashe - Rascal (Superstar)

Another bop from Tinashe, but we’re used to this at this point. If parties were partying right now I’d definitely add this to the pregame playlist. But sadly we’re not and I am sad.

KAMI & Smoko Ono - Reboot ft. Chance The Rapper & Joey Purp

A very underrated Lyrical Lemonade collaboration. Smoko Ono MURKED the beat and Kami, Chance, and Joey took care of the rest. I’ve been critical of Chance in past newsletters, but I think this is one of my favorite verses from him.

Mr. J. Medeiros - "Strangers"

I found this song from a random NBA highlight compilation and for the second week in a row can’t remember where. All I know is that this is such a good song and that I’m surprised it was never on NBA Live. Because it sounds like an NBA Live song.

Color Me Badd - I Adore Mi Amor

I wasn’t alive in 1991, but if it sounded like this then it seems cool. No iPhones, just vibes. Everyone in the group is killing it in this song too. A lot of groups have one or two members carrying the song, but that is not the case here. FIRE!

Sample of the week: Lata Mangeshkar and S.P.Balasubrahmaniam - Tere Mere Beech Mein

Try to guess where the sample is.

The answer?

I had no idea.

Producers BloodShy and Avant are geniuses for this. This sample is also featured in Childish Gambino’s version of Toxic.

HAVE A GOOD WEEK!
