Infinite Shuffle #26: DISCOUNT CANDY LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Hey. It’s the day after Valentine’s. Single people, we can scroll Instagram again.

Artist of the week: Moxie Raia

One of my favorite singers, Moxie Raia brings a fun melodic vibe to the pop genre. She makes music that makes you want to go out on the town but sip red wine while you do it. Have you ever asked for a glass of wine and drank it on the dance floor? I have. It’s underrated. People came up to me and were like “Yo is that a glass of wine?” and I was like “Yeah. You ain’t seen no shit like this before huh”.

Good times.

Project of the week: 931 Reloaded

Image result for 931 reloaded

931 Reloaded is Moxie Raia’s 2016 project. Unfortunately, we haven’t gotten one since. However, I want to state that this album has some really contagious songs. I love “On My Mind”, “Write Our Names” and “Healer”. There are so many different moods on this project that range from upbeat to sullen to happy to somber etc. etc. It’s a rollercoaster, but not one that makes you scream. It’s more like one that gives you quick bursts of adrenaline.

Songs of the week

The Bee Gees - Nights On Broadway

The legendary Bee Gees got hella hits, but today I want to focus on “Nights on Broadway”. I just love this live performance. It’s groovy and makes you just want to walk down the street in slow motion. If I was in the crowd they would have kicked me out. I’m also convinced that if I was in the 70’s I totally would have done mushrooms. LOOK THEY DIDN’T HAVE DATA ON THEM BACK THEN I WOULDN’T HAVE KNOWN.

Father - Heartthrob

The leader of Awful Records has been very influential to the rap game. From his songs with ILoveMakonnen to working with Carti and Key!, this man has built a legacy both on and off songs. This is a special hit to me because this introduced me to the “COLORS” video series, one of the best music performance Youtube channels out there.

Father is keeping hip-hop weird and it’s awesome.

Nate Nixen - Bon Voyage

I found out about this kid because he got an Andre Drummond feature on one of his snippets. That was a confusing timeline for everyone because that’s how we found out that Andre Drummond was spitting bars.

Anyway. This kid has dropped some songs and snippets here and there and I honestly think the talent is there for him to make a run whenever. If anything, this kid was getting some CRAZY BEATS.

Westside Gunn - Michael Irvin

I only have one question for you… YOU EVER COOK HALF A BRICK IN THE AIR FRYER?!

Internet Money - Really Redd Ft. Trippie Redd, Lil Keed & Young Nudy

Internet Money makes it on here again and with no surprise. Nick Mira is one of the most gifted producers in the industry today and he just graduated high school. It’s incredible. Trippie Redd is special on hooks and this song just feels really complete for a 3-minute song.

Sample of the week: Mr. Twin Sister - Meet The Frownies

Many Kendrick Lamar songs are sample-heavy and early Kendrick Lamar was no different. This sample above is probably super recognizable to you, but just in case you haven’t heard it take a closer. Producer Scoop DeVille has made some of your favorite West Coast songs, and The Recipe is one of his best out there.

Good Kid M.A.A.D City was such a good album that it has us students installing new operating systems on our school-issued Google Chromebooks just so we could download music on them and listen during class. Who said you don’t learn things at school?
