Infinite Shuffle #23: Old Venom
We just got a letter we just got a letter wonder who it's from?
What’s good everyone! Hope you had a great week. The vibes are looking up!
I’ve been busy as hell. I just realized that I have three side projects outside of work now. A podcast, a twitch stream, and this newsletter. I’ve been having so much fun and I thank you all for consuming my content.
Artist of the week: Kenny Mason
This dude has flows for days. I found about him through his 2019 song “Hit”.
Mason has shown a great ear for production which matches up with his ability to stay powerful stuff throughout songs. It shows all throughout his debut project.
Project of the week: Angelic Hoodrat
Angelic Hoodrat is a great album that perfectly showcases both the talent and potential of Mason. “Hit” is on the 2020 album, but the rest of the songs seem to have a more chill and darker tone. In 42 minutes, Mason talks about his upbringing, friends, and family throughout the album. The dark, serious moods on this project really stand out. To me, it gives it an extra layer of authenticity that I love here. Check it out.
Songs of the Week!
Sub Urban (feat. REI AMI) - Freak
This song blew up last year and rightfully so. It’s entrancing and solid overall. I need to dig deeper into the catalog of REI AMI and Sub Urban but I’m liking what I’m hearing so far. I love Sub Urban’s Thrill Seeker album and encourage y’all to check it out.
fats’e, shinigami, and 93FEETOFSMOKE - old me
This song is very catchy and I love it. I came across them from the Captain Jack Sparrow song that you can find on the Shuffle Mode Archive playlist. If you love this style of music then I have a separate playlist I can make for y’all. Just let me know.
Ghostemane - Venom
Ghostmane is an interesting artist that you might already know. For years he’s been mixing metal, rock, and rap. I’m choosing Venom because that’s one of his more popular songs so if you’ve never heard this interesting genre mix then here’s your first chance!
Jay Pitts, Langston Bristol - Blk Rose
This is one of the smoothest songs I’ve come across in a long time. This sounds like you’re chilling in the park walking around and enjoying the vibes. Jaypitts is severely underrated and you guys should definitely peep his songs.
Alicia Bridges - I Love The Nightlife
Throwback of the week. I love to set my lights to disco mode and play this 1978 classic that makes me want to buy rollerskates and buy bellbottoms . It’s cold now so maybe ice skates? That’s harder right? It seems like that’s harder.
Sample of the week: So anxious - Ginuwine

The intro to Drake’s “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” is my favorite Drake song on my favorite Drake project. This is likely the first time I’ve seen one song be sampled TWO different ways by TWO different producers on the same project. (I think Logic did that but with small sound effects.)PartyNextDoor produced “Legend” while 40 produced “Madonna” with the same sample. I wonder if they were in the same studio when this was all going down and had a competition for who could make the best song off of this sample.
I think “Legend” wins that one, but that’s just me.
