Infinite Shuffle #17: No Body No Crime
Whatās up Shufflers? Itās almost time for Christmas and I havenāt bought any presents for anyoneā¦ shit. I usually have Youtube links, but Google is down right now so I could only squeeze a few in. Sorry.
Letās get to it!
Artist of the week: Piāerre Bourne
Whenever you hear the words āYO PIāERRE YOU WANNA COME OUT HEREā you know you about to hear a BANGER. Piāerre Bourne makes some of the catchiest beats out there. Whenever a rapper teams up with Piāerre, he usually gets the best out of them.
Bourne can go from working with Playboi Carti on a number of tracks including the smash hit āMagnoliaā to making an ELITE project with Young Nudy. Easily one of the best producers out. He does more than just produce, however. Today, Iām here today to talk about his solo artist work and one of my favorite projects of the last few years.
Project of the week: The Life Of Piāerre 4
I might play this project every day. 50 minutes of Piāerre sliding on his own beats. But what I want to talk about here are the transitions. Each song transitions to the other perfectly making for a great chilling and listening experience. I love it. The hooks are catchy as HELL too. This is my go-to project when Iām trying to write stuff, chill or get creative for some reason.
If you like those original 16 songs, he added 15 more songs in the deluxe version this year.
Songs of the week!
Sueco - PRIMADONA
You might know Sueco from his viral song āFastā, and heās been following that up well in my opinion. My favorite new song from him is āPRIMADONAā, where Sueco flows over a piano hip-hop beat. Those are my favorite style of hip-hop beats, he sounds way different on this song than on āFastā and I think I prefer this style from him, to be honest.
The song is also too short in my opinion.
Chance The Rapper - The Return
After releasing āThe Big Dayā, we roasted the shit out of Chance The Rapper because of the level of disappointment in the album. Iām not even trying to be dramatic, but that album is so hard to listen to. āThe Big Dayā was supposed to be a moment where we look at Chanceās 8 years in the industry and celebrate all heās achieved. Instead, we got 22 tracks that made us question everything.
Anyway, āThe Returnā is kind of a return to form for Chance. It seems like heās trying to get back to what made an entire generation fall in love with him. A smooth beat that reminds us of the good old days in high school playing āAcid Rapā in the Subaru.
Jordan Solomon - Permanent Mood
I absolutely love this beat man.
Jordan Solomon will probably be an artist of the week candidate whenever he drops a project, but for now, we will just enjoy his single releases and snippets. The Toronto rapper has a ton of potential and should be one that you keep your eye on.
Juicy J feat. Logic - 1995
Logic retired from rap earlier this year, but he came back to feature on 2 songs on Juicy Jās new album. Logic and Juicy J work so well together and his retirement hasnāt changed that chemistry one bit. The transition from Logic to Juicy J on this song is like hitting caps lock with Juicy J goes āWHIPPIN' THROUGH NORTH MEMPHIS BACK IN 1995. SCREAMIN', "MAFIA!" HAD MY CITY HYPNOTIZEDā
Carefree Logic is the best Logic in my opinion. Glad to see that heās in a better place mentally.
Pritty - Cougar
I donāt know how I found this song, but Spotify brought me some heat and I just wanted to share it with yāall.
Sample of the Week: Snowy White - Midnight Blues
Meek Mill hops on some of the best samples around and DC4 is no different. Producer Dolla Bill Kidz decided to take Midnight Blues and sample the first part of the song.
I absolutely love the guitar on this song. That paired with Meek Millās powerful lyrics and message made it one of the more complete songs of DreamChasers 4. Itās really been 4 years since this project came out? Damn.
Thatās all from me this week!
Oh, one more thing. I HAVE A PODCAST NOW! In addition to the newsletter, Iāll also be interviewing cool people and answering mailbag questions periodically. The Itunes link is under review but the Spotify link is up so go follow it if you want. When it launches (2021), Iāll put the recent podcast episodes at the bottom of these newsletters because I donāt want to make a separate substack for it.
